Just a note, no developers here: (well sometimes, just the occasional one) and I suspect RAV does not listen to anyone.

I used to do a bit of video editing in the past when DVD was favourite. Used Gimp for the titles / menus and DVD print.

Never used HitFilm but VideoHelp which I trust says https://www.videohelp.com/software/HitFilm and https://www.videohelp.com/software/HitFilm/old-versions where you might get a "safe" installer.

Video editing is like Gimp, you invest a lot getting to know the software and reluctant to move elsewhere but there are editors that still have good support and probably as many effects. Thinking OpenShot or Kdenlive.

I kept Kdenlive, have a better look at it for some time, looks neat.
Yes true it is. I am working with Hitfilm for years now, not really looking forward to learn something els. Now I have Hitfilm back, still have a lot of Hitfilm files.
