		Hi there.
I use lightroom as my initial editor and also was using photoshop.  I would like to use gimp but I am having trouble understanding exactly how to set up gimp as my external editor.  Please help.
thanks
Michael

		External editor of what?
You do need to be more specific and extend your explanations for us to understand what you want to do.
If you were speaking about the duo lightroom-photoshop, GIMP works well with Darktable/LightZone/Photivo, as you can switch back and forth (LZ does it very well)

I have an old paid subscription free version of Light Room. I use a very basic approach. I export converted to tif from LR to a common folder with Gimp. Then just call up and do my editing in Gimp. Then export as jpg (or whatever) back to the common folder. And then using File Explorer to copy back to LR original folder. In lieu of File Explorer sometimes I use XnViewMp for better thumbnails than Explorer with copy/paste capabilities.
