Welcome Screen Colour Theme
#1
After downloading and installing a Color Theme, Hypergraphite, which works OK. I found it does not display in the Opening Screen in Personalize.
It does appear in Edit> Preferences> Theme along with Default and System, and they all work OK.
Does anybody know if this is a bug or perhaps it has not been coded in, to update in the Welcome opening.

No replies ?   Not really my "thing" so:

I do not think it is a bug.  I normally have the Welcome Dialogue turned off but I can see a use If for example you use a black theme and want to use a more neutral grey for photoediting.

In days gone by - Gimp 2.8 and 2.10 there were users who might install dozens of themes. A long list to incorporate into Personalize. So far not many for Gimp 3  Wink

You can can ask for an enhancement. Post a request here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues

Jon: Hi! I was one of the developers who originally worked on the Welcome Dialogue. It's not a bug - we just didn't include it as an option. Smile

There were two built-in themes when we did it during 3.0's development - no one had yet made 3rd-party themes. I have no problem adding the option, though as Rich2005 said, a feature request would make it easier to get feedback from the other developers. Thanks for pointing it out!

Thanks for update.

Hi rich2005
Thanks for your comments. The reason I posted the original file is because I am writeing my own theme based on Hyperflatgraphite, because I find there is not enough contrast in the installed themes to easily read the text, and to make the borders more distintive. On testing I saw that the welcome window did not update.
I see you have installed Hyperflatgraphite, and the Artbox Warm theme has the features above. and some other interesting features.
I attach my unfinished Theme, I like it but the Gray enthusiasts will not. Please comment: good or bad if you wish.

@Jon

I am exactly the other way round. I find the black themes hard on my eyes with too much contrast, so I am one of those gray enthusiasts Wink
I put those themes in as a demo. I have seen some horrendous themes in the past. I recall Pink was a favourite with some users at one time.

All in the eye of the beholder.

I've also tweaked to all grey theme for my husband, so he can more easily see where is what and where the borders are etc. I have not made it in a theme of its own though, but messed around with the system files. (gimp.css in the user folder does not work reliably, looks like it's overwritten by system files).
Did you do your theme as stand-alone? What when they add more features to GIMP? You'll have to update the theme then accordingly?
I'm still thinking about how to do the adaptions without the hassle on updates.

All in the eye of the beholder. - Very true.

My own peronnel choice are the light ones, but I am working on some Gimp tutorials and the dark themes appear to be "in the modern trend". I have tried to find the link to Artbox-System and Artbox-Warm. The current links are being redirected to https://lumi-o.org/  and I am unable to find Artbox on that site. Is it possible that you can download the Artbox folder to this network

A bit off topic, but "in the modern trend" reminds me of an article I read some months ago relating to mobile phones. Apart from "dark themes are really cool" one belief is dark theme uses less battery power. It was found that dark theme users then increased screen brightness to compensate, No savings. Wink I have in my archive an old PS7 ... and .. no dark themes then.
