I am exactly the other way round. I find the black themes hard on my eyes with too much contrast, so I am one of those gray enthusiasts
I put those themes in as a demo. I have seen some horrendous themes in the past. I recall Pink was a favourite with some users at one time.
All in the eye of the beholder.
