Where are the plugins when you install w flatpak?

Well no luck. I seem to have all the necessary tools but some libs/tools needed are too old. Resynthesizer will not make or configure due to old libs (2.x seems to be needed). I tried beautify and need 2.0 libs or gimptool-2.0 to make. I think gimptool-2.0 was deprecated several years ago and it is needed for compiling some plug-ins. Only gimptool-3.0 is available, and it forces the rev of GIMP back to 3.0.4.

Starting to wonder if I need to install GIMP 2.0 (or some 2.x) and try compiling the plug-ins, then upgrade to GIMP 3.2.4 to see if they are pulled forward. I did try downgrading but could only go to GIMP 3.0.4.

gmic-gimp 3.7.6 installed and appears in GiMP 3.2.4. gimpfx-foundry is 2.6.1. It installs with no errors from the repository but does not show up in GiMP.

Wondering if anyone on this forum has installed GIMP 3.2.4 and then tried adding plug-ins like Resynthesizer?

Pleased you are not using AI, the questions seemed a bit repetitious but is a can-of-worms Just a caveat, I do not use Fedora.

First thing. Gimp 3 code is different from Gimp 2 code. All those old Gimp 2 scripts and plugins will not work with Gimp 3, unless they get a re-write. Those fx-foundry scripts, Beautify compiled plugins ...never going to work.

Your Fedora repo installs Gimp 3.0.4 with that you can get gimptool-3 and compile for Gimp 3. Some things have changed, resynth for example also needs meson, see: https://github.com/bootchk/resynthesizer...rom-source.

If resynth3 and gmic are in the repo then it makes sense to use those. g'mic_gimp does compile but it needs several dependencies. These are listed on the gmic site (but for debian vesions). EDIT: A quick search and it seems you are out of luck with Gimp 3 & gmic_gimp_qt for Fedora. Looks like you are stuck with using a flatpak and get-what-you-are-given

Not going to work. see above about code \ difference The easiest way for a Gimp 2 installation is use a older linux in a VM

Which installations ? gmic 3.7 is probably Fedora repo (latest is gmic 4.0 2) (EDIT must be flatpak version ?) and that shows in a Flatpak Gimp 3.2.4 ? fx-foundry too old - scripts/plugins never going to work.

I run both a Gimp 3 and a Gimp 2 using a combination of versions. Gimp 3 from repo and Gimp 2 as an appimage. Most of Gimp 2 python plugins have not been remade and an appimage is one way to go. For Fedora this one might work.

It is good to see where I stand. I was afraid this would be the outcome. I will keep an eye on new developments for GIMP plugins.
