clipboard entry not showing in pattern fill
#1
My pattern-fill refuses to show the edit/copy item  from the clipboard.  I am doing a  tutorial by Meez "How to put text inside text".  The tutorial doesn't address this "no show" issue.  What to do to make it appear?  I see no deviation from the lesson's steps.

Welcome to gimp-forum.net

All the photobucket images are blocked here but is it this stage?

Step 6;
NOW. To finally add the text. First you want to go to Select> None
Then hit the Paint can. Go to fill type and hit Pattern fill.
Type in Clipboard.

Step 7;
Finally, click in the text so that it becomes filled with whatever's on your clipboard.

Some things to check.
What size is your selection, something tiny might not show except for the pattern size which shows in the clipboard.
You copied on a layer which is transparent. That will not show.

An easy way to check if the clipboard works. Make a simple image, one layer something like this. Keep it simple and distinctive.

Do a copy and check the patterns clipboard. http://i.imgur.com/mdwLIFh.jpg

If that does not work, come back with more information.

Edit:

That is dated 2009, so using Gimp 2.6 Assuming you are using Gimp 2.8 then there will be differences. That is the problem using these old tutorials.

Just following the text without seeing any of the photobucket images, is it something like this screenshot? http://i.imgur.com/Ey6X8cl.jpg or maybe the small text goes on the background, do not know, Difficult to determine from the text. My guess if the clipboard is empty after stage 3, you inadvertently copied some transparent pixels at a later stage.

Thanks all, I didn't go up in the texture panel, found the clipboard entry in top left corner. Let's close this query.
