I did try this yesterday, and it is a bit picky about the brush / brush size you select, but does indeed create a selection.

Not really needed.
If you have gone to the trouble of making a path then back to my post #2 and two alternatives
Stroke the path using quickmask + resynthesizer
Stroke the path for a mask using gmic inpaint filter.

I also don't like the brush size, the old resythesize along a path for gimp2.10 is easier to use and only requires one step.

Was looking for this for you a while back to show you what heal select can do. Just found it. I probably didn't do a perfect job but I think it does pretty good, depending on the user.

Yes, it depends on the complexity of the background. Using the clone tool in combination with your artistic talent can sometimes yield better results. Wink

True Daniel, But I don't recall using anything other than the heal selection, that time. In fact if I remember correctly it was before I was even aquainted with the heal and clone tools.
