Can I use a curve preset (Colours / Curves) in batcher ?
Strange one, I can get it to work in Windows but not a linux appimage.
You can initially get the curve points from the Gimp curves tool, (then close it) I do not know how many you can add with Batcher, you will have to try-and-discover. Look for gimp-drawable-curves-spline and in this example, 8 points , fairly obvious.
Thanks Rich. The screenshot makes it perfectly clear which item to use and how to use it. It also works with Windows 10. Learned something new.
![]() After colour desaturation, this is a way to remove light gray from white backgrounds in black and white pictures without losing much detail. In my case I used a curved line from 0,0 to 245,255 and the result is pure white (#FFFFFF). I had to do 1243 pictures. With gimp and batcher : happy days. After using Mono Mixer the backgrounds of some images were not white, so I tried the curves in Gimp 3.0. 4 with the curved lines 0, 0 and 245, 255 and the background was pure white. I tried these curves with Batcher and the background of most images was pure white (those were after using Mono Mixer), some were not (those were not after using Mono Mixer). So no happy days. Apparently Batcher does not work with curves in my case. Two examples that don't work :
As earlier post, the curves did not work with a linux appimage, it just returned the original image.
To be truthful, I am amazed by the number of users who have jumped to Gimp 3.0 when Gimp 2.10 is still perfectly usable and has a dozen years of great scripts and plugins. However, Gimp 3.0 and Batcher. Do you have the Windows gimp_gmic_qt plugin installed ? If you do, then try in the colors section Normalise-Brightness. Extreme settings seem to work here, For Batcher, gmic is in the plug-ins section, the command copied from gmic would look like this gcd_normalize_brightness 2,100,0,3,0,0 and that pastes into Batcher. Input is 1 Output is 0
I found a solution to remove light gray noise from images and get a solid white background in Gimp 3 and Batcher. I achieved this using 'Colors / Shadows - Highlights'.

I still use Gimp 2.10, but I like to try new things. I compare it to my switch from the Commodore 64 to an IBM computer. Starting all over again and learning by trial and error. Let me put it this way: with Gimp 2.10 you sit comfortably in your chair, with Gimp 3 you still miss some cushions, the arm and back rest are not yet optimal and there is no footrest yet. But usually everything falls into place. ![]() |
