Illustrator is for vector graphics, not raster/bitmap graphics like Gimp. The FOSS equivalent to Illustrator is Inkscape.

This said there is some vector capability in Gimp, and fro what I've glimpsed of your video there is also a symmetry painting.

From your screenshot:

You have a drawing open in Scribus and you made a screenshot of it.
The image open in Gimp is the screenshot and now has 2 layers.

What is helpful to give an answer is a screenshot like this, Gimp showing the layers dock and the tool options.

The Gimp video is about scaling and rotating. What is the problem there, apart from not knowing what to do ?
The Illustrator video is about copies, the equivalent is Inkscape and tiled clones. The drawing in Scribus might be a vector image and Inkscape could be a better tool than Gimp for editing.

Post a new screenshot, and I will try and help. Also where did you get the .sla file ?

Edit: You designed the drawing using Scribus shapes ? A quick re-creation.

Then it is possible to export that page as an vector image (SVG) That will open in either Gimp or Inkscape and make better starting point for your editing than a screenshot.
