very few file type export options

Thank you very much, rich2005!!

"Gimp 2.10.2 as far as 32 bit is concerned is broken."

Oops, I see I didn't notice your last post in which you mentioned this.

It might be good to mention this on
https://www.gimp.org/downloads/
so others won't waste time looking for solutions. My bad for waiting until my 2nd post to mention my installations are 32bit.

On the PC I haven't downgraded (from 2.10.2 to 2.8.22) yet I found that if I select the GIF filefype from the popup the "All export images" button generates, more filetypes populate the popup. Then I selected the newly-appearing JPG filetype, and it seems they all populate the popup.

Oh, but still still nothing happens/GIMP seems to hang when I click Export.

Again I have no idea why it took me so long to see your request, rich2005...unfortunately now I've fallen back to 2.8.22 so I imagine it's too late for me to provide that file (and no time now to upgrade to do so), sorry!

I see there's a 2.10.4 now.  Is 32-bit still broken for it?
I'm guessing not since this isn't addressed on https://www.gimp.org/news/2018/07/04/gim...-released/
(https://www.gimp.org/downloads/ offers 32-bit, but it did for 2.10.2 too.  It would be great if there were an easy way for users to learn when 32-bit is fixed.)

Should work, with reservations. This in a Win7 32 bit VM

After installation, there might not be any toolbox icons. screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/cQoEveC.jpg

Edit -> Preferences -> Icon Themes and Legacy works. https://i.imgur.com/VJega7O.jpg

Does Gimp 2.10.4 browse and open (and export) images. It does here: https://i.imgur.com/FPuJB3P.jpg

Have not tried it for plugins / scripts... etc

Thank you very much for the reply rich2005, that's cool!

Honestly I'm in no rush to get off 2.8.22, and really too busy anyway, as much as I'd like to provide feedback I think I'll just hold off for awhile and thank all of you who are participating in working out the kinks!

I see there's a 2.10.6 out now; is it still broken "as far as 32 bit is concerned"?

I feel bad coming here to bug y'all about this, but for some reason this 32-bit-broken-ness has never been mentioned at https://www.gimp.org/downloads/

The short answer is - I do not know.

Long answer: Trying out Windows Gimp 2.10.6 yesterday and today because of another question, and it installs ok, all the icons are there, a quick test with python plugins and script-fu .scm and working ok.

The snag in my Win 7 32bit VM is this:

Jpegs do not import and do not export. Tried all sorts, a very clean no-previous-Gimp installation, Installation over existing Gimp 2.8 All the same error. Other file types open and export ok, as far as I can tell it is just jpeg's.

It is very strange because the same happens in a Win7 64 bit VM but not a Win 10 64 bit VM.

It might just be my Win 7 installations, I do not know. Waiting for someone with a physical 32 bit Windows to start complaining.

Thank you so VERY much, Rich. (As I wrote when 2.10.4 came out) "Honestly I'm in no rush to get off 2.8.22, and really too busy anyway, as much as I'd like to provide feedback I think I'll just hold off for awhile and thank all of you who are participating in working out the kinks!"

Gimp is SUCH a treasure!

It is my ancient Win 7 installations. My VM's are never connected to the internet and thus never get updated.

If you have a Windows 7 SP1 (and better) then Gimp 2.10.6 looks good.

Y E S ! !

In other words Gimp 2.10.6 is working (including the issue I originally addressed when creating this thread) for me on my 32-bit installations of both Win8.1Pro and Win7Pro.

Many thanks to rich2005, and both thanks and congrats to the Gimp programmer(s)!
