what personal information could an image contain?

I know that an image could contain your GPS location. In addition to GPS location, what other
possible information that an image could contain which could identify an individual?

  • The serial number of your camera (and your lens). For a camera this could be a bit hard to track, but for a smartphone, the constructor can certainly map the S/N to an IMEI, and the network operators can map the IMEI to a number and the number to a customer.
  • Anything you have put in the "Artist", "Copyright", and "Owner name"
OTOH, I see these things in my DSLR pictures but not in my phone, where the pictures are more anonymous (besides the GPS data of course).

So this is camera-dependent, and the best way to tell is to take pics from your usual camera(s) and run them through and EXIF analyzer (ExifTool or else) and see for yourself.

Sometimes easier to use a utility such as XnViewMp https://www.xnview.com/en/xnviewmp/ to view what is in the image metadata.
