  Convert to greyscale green
Posted by: nikosb - 04-07-2019, 03:59 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

Is it possible to convert an image to a "greyscale" Green, that is all pixels are represented by a variation of green intensity going from black to full green?

Here is an example of "greyscale" green image:

How can I edit the brush?
Posted by: Hymer - 04-06-2019, 02:39 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

My brush tool is locked somehow in oval shape, and I should like to change it to circle again, but I can not, even if I open the brush editing. The numbers are locked on it. What can I do?

Print double sided using gimp not pdf or gutenprint
Posted by: hoshi411 - 04-03-2019, 03:17 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (1)

1) Gimp is the best tool I can find to print accurately with, all other pdf apps have failed me including windows ones over wine.  I do not want to discuss pdf tools.

2) Gutenprint is problematic for me and I don't want to discuss it as a solution.

3) I noticed that Gimp allows the option to print double sided in this option here

4) It also allows me to select a range of pages here
[Image: 576QK.png]

5) I expect that this is referring to layers in the gimp document.  I want this to work.  I want to print double sided from Gimp.  The other solutions are problematic and everything leads me back to gimp.  It prints perfectly shrunken and centered and fitted with lovely color and dpi when I import pdf pages.  it is so nice.  I just want this feature to work but every time I print with double sided checked above and page range, It only prints the top layer.

Please explain this to me.

If you want to discuss pdf apps then PM me and if you want to discuss Gutenprint PM me.

If you have a non-cynical working solution for my problem above, please tell me.

Thank you.

Cyan in Gimp 2.10.8 failed to save image
Posted by: bade - 04-02-2019, 10:49 AM - Forum: Extending the GIMP - Replies (4)

Hello,

following the instructions given by GIMP-administrator "rich" in a video on this platform, I have downloaded, installed and applied Cyan in Gimp 2.10.8 (under Windows 10 Pro) to convert a GIMP-image (Adobe RGB 1998) into a TIFF-file (CMYK: ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI)). Everything worked well except of the last step: Cyan failed to save the image ("failed to save image, please file permissions or similar."). Alternatively, I tried to convert and save a tif-image (RGB) of the same GIMP-project, what again failed. Does someone know how this problem can be solved?

With kind regards.

  default output folder
Posted by: dinasset - 04-01-2019, 05:18 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (5)

Likely a stupid question, but I do not see where to change the gimp default output folder; it's always "Documents" the first time (then it maintains what I say), but I think it's really somehow stupid to consider a gimp outcome as a "document", at least an "image", but even better would be to set it according to personal preferences. Thanks.

Changing the colour of an outline on a B & W image
Posted by: adam_b2019 - 03-31-2019, 12:36 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (5)

Hi,

I have a B & W image that is a black outline on a white background. It is an imported PDF.  I would like to change the outline colour to something other than black. When I select the outline using the fuzzy selection tool then change the colour the outline colour changes but the quality of the image becomes fuzzy/milky. It looses it's sharpness.

How can I change the outline colour whilst keeping the sharpness of the image?

Thank you Smile

  Is there a fix?
Posted by: adwhitewolf - 03-30-2019, 07:42 PM - Forum: OSX - Replies (1)

Hi all.  I am new to the forms because normally I can fix what is wrong with GIMP and get it to work with my computer. However, I finally took the plunge and downloaded 2.10 today. Thankfully I kept the older version on my computer as there's a lot wrong with the new version.

I am running a mac with mojave 10.14.3  After installing gimp, I moved the icon to the application folder and launched the application. It says "Varifying Gimp 2.10..." and stays that way about 5 minutes, then I get an error message that says "Gimp 2.10 can't be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed" I have to go to system prefs and accept through security tab.  Usually, I only have to do this once, and then I'm good to go. So far, I've opened gimp 3 times, and had to enter security 3 times.

Gimp 2.8 didn't take this long to open, I don't have a lot of custom fonts, or brushes. I would like to get rid of some of the symbol fonts because I never use them. Not sure this would help.

What can I do to make gimp open quicker, and get rid of the "cannot be opened" problem? All the stuff that worked before, or works with other applications, don't appear to work with 2.10.  Thanks
