Bug: I am experiencing an issue where two layers that have drop shadows interact incorrectly where the drop shadows overlap. 

Context: the layers are several layers apart from one another. Both have white drop shadows applied to them. Where the two layers' drop shadows overlap they are dark. The Mode of both layers are set to Normal. This was not happening a few days ago, I do not believe anything was updated or changed, but I might have accidentally hit a hotkey?

Example: Attached is a screenshot with red arrows pointing to the overlaps.

Request: Please suggest whatever you imagine could be the cause of this.

How do I change the tool outline color?  When I search on this I can't find the answer I need.  My need is when doing very detailed edits to gray toned images it is very difficult to see the tool size, which is made up of alternating white and black marks.  Specifically the pencil, airbrush, smudge, etc. It is very difficult to place the tool on a gray area next to an edge.  For instance, if I want to draw a line on a grey area and have it touch another line, I have to zoom in to  see when it is touching.  For this case I'd like to change the tool color to a contrasting color, maybe red.

I have attached an example and the pencil is located in the gray next to the white a little to the right of center.  I find it easier to see in the capture than while editing.

First of all, I'd like to say that I am french, and I apologize for my poor english.
Actually I got an issue with Gimp, when inserting a picture in my document.
When I open the picture as a new document, it seems quite ok, reasonable size (10 x 10 cm), and the image is clear.
But when I try to insert the picture (open as layer) in my Gimp document, the picture included is very big (120 x 120 cm) and using the scaling tool to reduce the size, will badly damage the image quality ...

What is my mistake ???

It is based on Debian, so while it works here on kubuntu 24.04 , it is not going to be universal.  It is Gimp 2.99.19 but I am not sure how old it is, probably that end of May date.  There are some extra themes you can add, this one described as "Warm". Not my cup-of-tea (or coffee) but interesting. 245 MB download.

I know this is not a Gimp question, but is it possible to display thumbnails for Canon .cr3 files in Ubuntu 20.04?

I have tried adding image/x-canon-cr3; to /usr/share/thumbnailers/gdk-pixbuf-thumbnailer.thumbnailer and deleted the thumbnails folder in .cache to no effect.

I can open .cr3 files in Filmulator, which I use for converting them. However, it is time consuming and frustrating to open each of a large series of the raw files in order to find the one I wish to work on.

Any help and advice much appreciated.

Bucket will not fill layer with path strokes. Seems that layer has a special property. What's going on ?

I need to print a 110mm square image centered on a A5 sized canvas (the image consists of 3 elements - the image itself and 2 borders) I have set the canvas size to A5 centered the image correctly but i cannot get it to print the correct size. I have tried both the resize options on the template canvas resize dialogue screen but I can only get a image 70mm square to print - help !

Was using Gimp always as preferred image software.

I could use the print preview to exactly outline the image to print.
That is lost now.

Pls GIMP manufacturers don't do this. When not broken do not fix it, the version I had was OK.

How can I roll back to the version that worked for me. I do not know the number, just the previous one.

Hi all,

Please advise an easy way to touch old color photos.

I have old color hardcopy photos converted to digital copies using an android phone connected via an USB cable to Ubuntu 24.04 desktop PC with remote desktop.  This setup works for me without problem.  Copies of 3 digitized photos are attached here as example.

I expect to retouch them adding colors on the fade colored photos as well as making the photos more sharp .  Please advice.  I expect finding an easy way because I have abundon hard copies of fading color photos to treate.

I'll not print the edited photos but using them building digital slideshow only.
