Did you read the Readme?

"The instructions for running the program are:

Make a new working folder anywhere on your computer.

Copy (not move) into it some of the faded pictures you want to restore.

In the working folder, make a subfolder named ’restored’ (without the ’ ’ quotes) to contain the results.

Download the file restore4.0A.exe from GitHub.

Copy it into the working directory.

Double click on the program restore4.0A.exe.

Put the kettle on - the calculation is very slow but the results should appear in the ’restored’ directory."

https://youtu.be/ylIyA6wQGcY?si=IImHxA4w4hBsMPD2 (video), whose tutorial can be found at https://www.alexburkephoto.com/blog/2019...r-negative -film

Also in this other video

But in these techniques (PS) there is a feature that I didn't understand well: when applying curves you use ALT+click, which doesn't work in Gimp.

So the best results I obtained were those that follow the approach mentioned by denzjos.
In the image below I used this approach followed by the use of G'MIC - Color Presets - PIXLS.US(31) - Whiter Whites (default)

Thanks.

The best I can do on another photo
steps:
Filters -> Enhance - Sharpen Unsharp Mask.
Colors -> Exposure
Finally Colors -> Hue-Saturation

Not an improvement...
Pretty much the same steps used before.

Krikor, thank you for the information. 'Very slow', when a few clicks in the levels do the job, a choice is quickly made.

Another try to recolor and sharpen :
G'Mic-Qt / Colors /Color Balance
G'Mic-Qt / Colors / Vibrance
Colours / Auto / White Balance
G'Mic-Qt / Details / Sharpen [Inverse Diffusion]
Use 'Colours / Colour Temperature' to optimize the color to taste
