You can post pictures as attachments. Some limits apply. Once you have added an attachment you can insert it in the body of the post (there will be an automatic "thumbnail" produced if they are wider that 600px or higher than 800px).

Ok Cool I seen that somebody had posted a 600x588 size picture and tried to attach one and it didn't work
then I realised I need to use the Direct link on insert image and that worked

The 600*588 you see is probably a smaller version and if you click on it you will get  a bigger image (as will happen with the screenshot above).
