View several new image icons

Hi, I'm not very experienced with Gimp. I recently updated to version 3.0.6 rev 1. Previously, I could display multiple new image icons below the main menu bar, but now I can't find how to do it in Preferences. Has the feature that allowed closing images with a single click been removed?

A bit of a guess, but try enabling Show Tabs in the Gimp Windows menu.

   

EDIT: If it is not that then try the TAB key which toggles Hide Docks (including the open image tabs)

Yes your 1st suggestion is right rich. I have windows and that shows the thumbnails/tabs.

By the way, you can have them on either the top, bottom, left or right side of the canvas.

I looked in Preferences and everywhere except right in front of me
