Menus in 3.0

When I open a window such as Open, Open as Layers, etc., they keep coming up sorted Z-A. How can I get them to come up A-Z (like normal windows) and stay that way? Even when I select A-Z, then close the window, reopen still comes up Z-A.

What I do not see in your screenshot is that little arrow that shows the sort direction.  I see you have "Type" toggled, why not "Name"

   

Do you get that when you click in the name bar?  That works here toggling an alpha-numeric sort and sticks between Gimp sessions also a Win11 restart.
