This is very similar to another recent post. Previously erased pixels remaining in the layer.
If you clear that layer (sunlite) with the DEL key and then use the erase tool in anti-erase mode you see those pixels.
How to get rid of them and keep the contents of the layer ? So far this should work. Clear the sunlite layer (or a selection of the affected area). Make a new empty transparent layer under the 'sunlite' layer. Merge the 'sunlite' layer down into the new empty transparent layer.

Is this a bug ? I do not know. Gimp .xcf format keeps everything, unlike png format which has the option not to save the erased pixels.
