Paths Tool

Second question, when move the nodes to create a curve sometimes the line disappears and i get another anchor with 2 nodes splitting out. Its almost like you have to hit that node in the right spot.

I am using GIMP 2.10.38 (revision 1).

All the help i can get will be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Does anyone know of any videos that explain all the tools in Gimp, good videos, not those ones that play music and its done in 2 minutes.

Usually, the less nodes you have the smoother the curve, and on a node the curve is maximally smooth if the two tangents are symmetric around the anchor (so all three are aligned, and the tangents are at the same distance from the anchor). If you drag a tangent with the shift key depressed, the other tangent is moved to be its symmetric. There is a third condition that makes the whole path maximally smooth but it involves some math that you can't really do by hand. There are some scripts/plugins that can apply that to an existing path to smooth it.

Yes, sometimes you get spurious small tangents (usually because you dragged a very short distance without noticing) and this wreaks havoc when the path is used. I have a script to remove these. See ofn-remove-tangents.zip`.
