First thing is Gimp shows various boundaries in different ways. The yellow dotted line is a layer boundary marker. It only exists inside Gimp it does not show on your exported image. see https://docs.gimp.org/3.0/en/gimp-view-s...ndary.html If you want to turn it off, in the View Menu -> untick Show Layer Boundary.
An active selection shows as the white "crawling-ants" You remove that using the Select menu Select -> None
If it is the contents of the selection you want to remove and you have pasted as a new layer, then delete the layer.
