To my shame, I didn't know about the different action of right and left mouse buttons with sliders. Yes, it does work, but as you say it's a bit awkward with the magic mouse. It will help, but it's not great.
I had also totally forgotten about controlling brush size using left and right square brackets. On the Mac they don't work on their own, but I've found they do work as shift-[ and shift-]. That will be extremely useful!
In v2 I had been used to navigating around the image area by swiping a finger across the surface of the magic mouse (like when scrolling). In v3 (or at least v3 + Sequoia) that is very jumpy and unreliable. Of course it is simple enough to bring up the navigation window and use that (works well), or to use the marginal sliders, but both involve extra mouse movements outside the image area, so are not so convenient.
