Not much use complaining here. As MrsP-from-C says go straight to the Gimp developers.
However, a bit off topic but Gimp 3 has more than the perspective transform and for a "boxtop" image where the subject is the front face of the box maybe the handle transform might be easier to use. https://docs.gimp.org/3.0/en/gimp-tool-h...sform.html
Throw in some guides. Set View -> Snap to guides on. Set the four control points. Drag to fit in the rectangle.
