1080 has a screen 1920 x 1080, which I suspect yours is. Try that size

720 is  1280 x 720 and the tv upscaling causes the fuzzy image (just the same as upscaling in Gimp)

The 1024 x 768 is a size you might use when converting DVD video to widescreen (16:9) mp4 video.

Of course, if you are scaling some small image to 1920 x 1080 with Gimp do not expect a wonderful tv picture.

That worked perfectly, thank you! I wonder why the manual doesn't say 1920x1080?
