I recently created some clock faces. The little quartz clock can get a new face every month.

   

This is how I would recommend you do the clock numbers:
1. Create guides (H&V) at the centre of the dial.
2. Create another guide (H) for the 12 o'clock position.
3. Type 1 and move to the 12 position. (It will snap to the guides.)
4. Activate the Rotate Tool and select the 1.
5.Move the centre of rotation of the 1 to the centre of the dial.

   

6.Rotate the 1 by 30 degrees.

   

7. Repeat for other numbers, changing the angle to suit.
