Very difficult to give an opinion, I looked at yourad animation any number of times and can see the layer truncated but not what leads up to that effect.
Where are the toolbox options? What settings do you have?

Using Windows but what version of Gimp ? ( look in the menu Windows -> About) As far as I can recall, not a bug but might be with an older version of Gimp.
