how can i copy and past only one sprite from a sprite sheet.

For 4 sprites, use the rectangle selection on the source to select a sprite, then Edit>Copy, then move to the target and use either Edit>Paste or Edit>Paste as>New layer. Plenty of ways to position them, grid, guides, or the Align tool.
