You have a floating selection layer. Make it a full layer Layer -> To New Layer (shift -ctrl-n)

I followed the steps exactly on the videos, but why don't they need to make a full layer

btw, what is floating selection layer? what is full layer?


Well.. In the meanwhile, looks like the eraser works now, but why the edge still has a big color difference after applying "Curves"?
