Stop automatic window size changes.

Pity you are not using a KDE linux Wink any number of ways to lock a window size.

I just have a very basic Win10 virtual machine to try out things, definitely not 2 monitors, so just some possibilities.

I found if you open a small image first (say 600x400) keep it open, subsequent larger images keep the same window size. If (big if) that works for you a default image can be tacked onto the Gimp launcher.

or

Some sort of utility to size the large window back. Not much choice, tried a couple and this one, sizer, might work http://www.brianapps.net/sizer/

Screen shots, A large-ish photo, well much off the Windows display: https://i.imgur.com/QD2A8Ix.jpg Resized with sizer: https://i.imgur.com/HDMQFv0.jpg You can of course set up your own sizes.
