Much appreciated. I understand the concept of what you're asking me to do. I'm a bit of a newbie with Gimp even though I've known of it for many years. I'm technical, but don't use it much and will need to learn my way through your process above.
The picture I'm scanning isn't perfectly straight on all sides, so I've been trying to align the 4 layers. Auto align, I can't seem to get to work, and even though I'm able to manually align two layers at a time, I think I'm missing a step in combining all layers for a final product(image).
