Hi. I discovered Gimp in January 2019. 
I realize Pop Up Effect.

You may want to fix the problems first:
  • The iPhone is blurred when the wood remains in focus.
  • The perspective of the planks and the iPhone don't really match
  • The water is overflowing on the bottom right corner.
  • iPhone and puffin assume the light is from behind the viewer while the wood as the light from above and the girl has the light from the back.

The idea of water overflowing (in the right corner) until it's interesting. There could even be a water stain on the wood in that part, enhancing that effect.  BucketFill Blur Rolleyes

Water overflowing is voluntary. The wood may not be level. The idea of an overflow of water is interesting. Why not a little waterfall .....Rolleyes

A waterfall would be more appropriate to a continuous flow of water, such as a river.

In the case of this image, there would be an overflowing, and splashing water where sea waves would exceed the edges of the phone. A spot of water on the wood would help, but a small waterfall would be surrealistic.
