Colorize: https://docs.gimp.org/2.10/en/gimp-tool-colorize.html

Gradient Map: https://docs.gimp.org/2.10/en/plug-in-gradmap.html (with a black to "slight green tone" gradient)

They are not in Tools.

Colorize : Colors > Colorize
Gradient Map : Colors > Map > Gradient Map

Colorize find in menu Colors -> Colorize

example with before/after: https://i.imgur.com/xYiTgEM.jpg

Gradient Map Colors -> Map -> Gradient Map

Set the FG/BG gradient (usually the default), example: https://i.imgur.com/OGfpGbP.jpg

ok thanks

curiously, "Colorize" appear" indeed in "Colors", but is not operational

first, to convert colored picture to b&w, I set "Picture, mode, grey levels"

So you are in grayscale mode. You should remain in RGB mode, and get a B&W image with Color>Desaturate.

There is no best or right or wrong. Try them and all and pick the one you like best.
