Crop Layer To Selection
#1
So - in Gimp 3.0 version 1, I see that it is no longer available to crop a layer to the selection. Instead we are forced to crop all layers to content. That is unacceptable - how do I restore the ability to simply crop a layer to selection?

It's Layer > Resize layers to selection now

As Ofnuts says this will crop any selected layers. If you only have one layer selected then only that one will be cropped.

It's particularly misleading to name something resize when the operation is to crop the layer to the selection. I never imagined that option would be what I was looking for until I found your post! The name should definitely change!

Hi! It was renamed because it also *does* resize - if you make the selection area larger than the layer, it will grow to that size. There was a issue report that "Crop to Selection" was confusing, if you're interested in reading the history: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/8073
