I've searched high and low for this option, but it's not at the bottom of the fuzzy select tool options, has it been depricated or just moved somewhere else?

This is a comparison of the fuzzy select tool options for Gimp 2.10 and Gimp 2.8

   

Now... what are you missing ? Is this a question about Gimp 2.8 or Gimp 2.10? Which one have you installed in your Android system ? 

Is it the draw mask option? For Gimp 2.8 you can get a visulisation of the mask using Windows -> Dockable -> Dialogues -> Selection Editor
