Finally I succeed;

On Ubuntu 22.04 desktop VM (Oracle VirtualBox)
1. Download gimp-mathmap-22-04jammy.AppImage and run it there.
GIMP can run on Ubuntu 22.04 with Python-Fu plugin added

2. Forward the USB device to Ubuntu 22.04 desktop VM
In my case, USB device = Samsung Galaxy S9+ smartphone

Now I can scan photos and film negatives direct on Ubuntu 22.04 desktop VM.

The setup is quite tricky in the absent of tutorial/document.

I'll add GMIC plugin later.  I hope it works.

Put them all in a layer group, (you would have  to open them as layers) you can do the different operations just on the layer group and it will affect all layers in it. Then maybe do an extra touchup on each image if needed.
Hi sallyanne,

Your suggestion is very interesting!

I'll start another thread/topic re "How to bulk/batch-edit images" later, based on your suggestion.  This thread is too long, not easy to go through all posts.

Thanks.
