What is going on here?  When I try to open and image file in GIMP and select a .tif format file an error message pops up as follows:

   

Note:  Just to be clear this is happening on Windows 10.

I do not know ... but drive W: ?

Can you move the tif file to say Pictures and maybe rename to xxx.tif then does it open ? Might just be a permissions thing.

It is in the Pictures library which I've relocated to a secondary drive.  Also that file was created by GIMP 3.0.2 which also has no problem opening it.

It looks like this problem was caused because of a mistake I made in specifying one of the plugin folders in Preferences.  It looks like I finally have Ver3.2.4 opening properly.  It will take some time to confirm how well it is working.
