Help with Text box
#1
Photo
Good Morning.

I'm new to the forum and also to using GIMP. I'm using the program to create a board game, including the manual, and that's where I'm having a weird problem. As you can see in the images below in some text boxes the letters end up being cut off. I always copy my text boxes to keep the configuration and just move them around on the page, so I don't understand why some are normal while others aren't. If anyone knows what I can do to solve this problem would be very grateful.

This is a known bug with "fllled" text, Might be fixed in the next version of Gimp.

As a work-a-round,  with the text tool / text layer active Layer -> Text to Path
Then render in a new transparent layer,  Edit -> Fill Path

an example of that https://i.imgur.com/ZZCqAgO.mp4

My advice, if possible keep the text layer and rendered layer in a layer group in case you need to change the text and re-do the rendered layer.  When complete, turn the visibility of the text layer off.

Then when you want to move the text around, link the layers in the group and move the layer group.

Thank you very much for your help, I did what you told me and it worked. And if I need to rewrite something, the process isn't laborious, so there's no problem. Good thing the solution was easy, I was thinking of doing the diagramming using Scribus, but then it would be another program to learn.

Thanks again for the help.

Good Morning.

Again I'm having problems with the same GIMP function, now the problem is with the text spacing. I imagine it's a BUG of this new update as there is no reason for the text to behave this way.

Normally distributed text

Text with the described error

If there is a way to fix this error I would really appreciate that information.

Using Gimp 2.10.30 (linux from PPA) I can not reproduce that.
It could be the Font and the code page used, those accented characters. Also are you typing in the text or is it a copy / paste from some other source.

If you give the font, I can try it out

I don't think it's related to the font, because I used others and the error remained. I'm copying and pasting. In the first two cases I used Notepad before moving to GIMP and it worked, but in this example it didn't work. But it looks like it's just copying and pasting, I tried to type some text and I couldn't reproduce it.

This was the font I used, but I think the TAB has more to do with the error than the font, I don't know...

I'll try typing all the text into a new field to see what happens.

I performed the test by writing a new text and the error persisted, even without ctrl+C/ctrl+V as shown in the image.

Still not able to replicate the issue. Looked at the font in Fontforge and although it is a 'narrow' type nothing there that I can see as a problem.
Typed this in, even translated it Wink All very strange.

I cannot reproduce this type of error.
Maybe if you made your .xcf available with just the text part we could better understand how you are getting this result.
