Inkscape shape using dots
#1
As you can see from the image below, I have a sheet of horizontal and vertical dots (matrix). Then I have a shape. I am trying to create a " dotted " shape. ie, I would like to create an intersection of dots and shape so that the shape will look as if it is made of dots.

It will be great to have some help. I really hope that some of you are good with Inkscape as well.

Update :

I tried to fix it manually by deleting independent dots. This is what I ended up with

Try the "Trace" tab in the Create Tiled Clones dialog.
- check the first option.
- Pick from the drawing: choose Opacity
- Tweak the picked value: play with gamma-correct value to have more or less clones on the border of the shape
- Apply the value to the clones: check Presence

There will be better ways, but this might get you started.

Thanks. It works. I am trying to create a font out of it. Not sure how good it will look with a shattered border.

Looks like this one will work. I just tried on Icomoon.

This is the most awesome method I got after Patterns. But like Pattern, looks like Clip also won't work in font making Sad

Thanks for the trick

Unlink clone > Path > Combine > Intersection is also helpful with the correct shape of dots. Sadly, just like clip and pattern it too won't show up as a font qualified shape in IcoMoon. Is there any method so that we can extract dots out of clip or intersection as individual dots as in tract option in Tile Clone explained above ? A set of individual dots is the only thing that works, from I tried so far.  Thanks
