Permission denied. Cannot open gimp
#1
Mac OSX 10.13.6 (High Sierra)

able to download the application, but unable to open.  Have never encountered this challenge so don't know how to deal with it.

Get message (text here, screen shot attached)

"It appears that you are using GIMP for the first time.  GIMP will now create a folder named '/Users/ma/Library/Application Support/GIMP/2.10' and copy some files to it.

Creating folder '/Users/ma/Library/Application Support/GIMP/2.10'...
Cannot create folder '/Users/ma/Library/Application Support/GIMP/2.10': Permission denied"

Thanks in advance for assistance.

I have come across similar but only with a linux "home-made" portable Gimp Wink

If the Gimp launcher is unable to make the folder, make one yourself (with the path you noted) and give it read / write permissions.

Thanks Rich. I had created the folder before, but, duh, missed the get info edit.  This worked and now I can start playing with Gimp.
