#1
A loop question from this

http://gimpforums.com/thread-is-the-gimp...ill-in-use

should I share stuffs & ask questions start here from now on and use old forum reading tutorials?
or it doesn't matter which forum I can ask?

I've been absent from official forum many years and my account & thread no longer exist.
So I've to start over again.

Welcome to gimp-forum.net

There is no official Gimp forum as such.

gimpforums crashed and this forum, gimp-forum.net came about. It is totally independent of gimpforums.com.

See at the top Who are we? https://www.gimp-forum.net/misc.php?action=help&hid=8

After several months absence it looks like a backup of the gimpforums.com has been found and someone, maybe the old owner has resurrected it. The last entries are 2014 so anything later than that is lost, probably for ever.

If you need to ask questions about Gimp then the forums with active members who can answer them are
here - https://www.gimp-forum.net/

There has never been an "official Gimp forum". GimpForums.com only used the same color scheme as the Gimp site but has never been "official". GimpForum broke down in September 2016 and was not "repaired" until a few days ago, using backups from 2014....

The folks who used to answer most of the questions on GimpForums.com (Rich, kevein and me) are now answering the questions on Gimp-Forum.net and will no longer answer on GimpForums.com since:

  • they don't really know who runs GimpForums.com,
  • they don't know what his/her objectives/motives are (they just know that several other forums are mishandled the same way)
  • they have no guarantees on the continued availability of the information they post
  • they wonder what are the chances that GimpForums.com goes belly up again for an extended period of time
By contrast on Gimp-Forum.net
  • the main contributors are also the owners
  • the idea is to share things for fun (or, let's be honest, the ego boost)
  • we try as much as possible to share knowledge and admin powers so each owner can continue to enjoy a motorcycle ride or a heart stroke (we are old gits) without putting the continuity of the forum at risk.

I do not have a problem, providing it is Gimp related and no overt links links to advertising. Links to big files for download sometimes difficult with 'free' file hosting sites such as mediafire but dropbox while a pita, is not too bad.

Maybe something like my post for a Gimp 2.9.5 appimage.

Where I keep the links updated as required.
