Tried others - Gimp works great
#1
Having done illustrations for books, magazines, cards, ads, gift products (like puzzles, wall decor) since 1970... I'm simplifying, Gimp does most of the things I did in the past with Photoshop, Corel Painter, etc. with a lot less hassle...
Should you be curious to look go to Web Site or the FaceBook page

The work is digital, using
Illustrator
PhotoShop
Dreamweaver
Flash
Z-Brush (3D)
Rhino (3D)
Carrara (3D)
Sculptris (3D)
Painter
Sound Forge, Acid XMC (for sound editing)
Vegas Studio, Camtasia (video editing)
and others

edit: Oh..silly me, I missed ..and others

Most of that software bit the dust when my drives were trashed (mechanical failure I think) many of them were downloads, updates of updates of updates for years.... including my web-editing Dreamweaver. I'm not about to buy all those again - many are renting their products by the month/year now... it's ridiculous...
Lesson = back up your backups... OFF SITE!
You're right... I'm tardy in updating.
Good eye
