What exactly tutorials are there on making Surrealist Photos in Gimp?
#1
I'd like tutorials and speed edits.

Basically I'd like to do Man Ray like stuff and other Surrealist Photography as well Kansuke Yamamoto,  Cahun Claude, etc.

Right now I'm using SnapSeed but the limitations are glaring?

Also, I'd like to know some artist here who do Surrealism and pop into your threads, if that's okay to ask?

There is nothing specific in the Gimp technique for surrealist photography. It is mostly inserting foreign elements in the photo, so for instance instead of swapping heads you replace the head by a teapot.

What is important is what is done outside of Gimp... You don't mix two or more random photos. At least some of the photos are carefully crafted at shoot time to have the right lighting/shadows and perspective.

Like this : a bird in a house painted like Kansuke Yamamoto

And use gimp to make it more Kansuke Yamamoto

What is needed is an artists imagination and as far as I know Gimp does not possess one of those Wink

There is a filter in the Gimp gimp_gmic_qt plugin http://www.gmic.eu -  Stylize - which tries to apply an image style into another.

Of course it always depends on the images you use, lots of settings in the filter, user has to experiment.

Not a great example: A pair of images (1)  The gmic plugin (2) The result (3)
