There must be more to it than just merging two layers - as that's just a couple of clicks in the layers dialog.

Can you explain your requirements in more detail please.

Thanks for your prompt reply

I am trying to create a PSD file from
a set of images using gimp coding i.e.
using script-fu. Currently, I can create
a PSD file from a set of images with
each image as a separate layer. Now
I am stuck in linking 2 layers into a
single layer.

Do you know about the Procedure Browser?

So I think gimp-image-merge-down is what you need.

Good day Kevin I am new to script-fu in gimp.
I want to merge 2 layers with the "gimp-image-merge-down " function. Just like you showed me. But I don't know how to write down the function. Can you help me write the (.scm) function for me
I have attached the 2 image file for you
