clone tool
#1
Hi everyone. Very much a newbie here. I've been watching tutorials and reading all morning and for some reason cannot get the clone tool to work.  I reposition a piece of my picture then try and fill in the spot left.  I feel like I am following all of the correct steps as far as holding ctrl and clicking on the spot I want to use but then nothing happens.  Can someone please enlighten me? Thank You!

First of all check the clone tool properties. Make sure you are using a suitable brush (1) and size (2) The dynamics should be off (3) and until you get the hang of the clone tool set Alignment to None (or maybe Fixed) see: https://i.imgur.com/BML6jiu.jpg

You seem to have this bit ok, Ctrl- click to fix a source. You should see the message bottom of Gimp window. see: https://i.imgur.com/jlRB7Zl.jpg You can now release the ctrl key.

Just use the tool to click and paint same as the paint tool. Look for the message bottom of Gimp window. Depending on Alignment the source remains in the same place or tracks the mouse. see: https://i.imgur.com/VPegFkf.jpg

A little bit unsure about : quote: I reposition a piece of my picture then try and fill in the spot left. If you used one of the selection tools and the selection is still active, turn it off. Select -> None It limits painting to inside the selection. This with an active selection. https://i.imgur.com/rxGRb3Y.jpg
