flatpak gimp 2.10 and darktable
#1
Bonjour,

I installed gimp 2.10 with flatpak because this gimp version is not yet available on my distro.

I want to call darktable to open raw files, but the only plugin appearing in the import images tab is "raw-file-placeholder".

file-darktable is furnished in the plug-ins but no way is given to use it instead of raw-file-placeholder. How can I configure gimp to use the darktable plugin?

Thank You

Well...out of luck I think.

I have Gimp 2.10.0 flatpak in a Kubuntu 16.04 Looking in Edit -> Preferences -> Image Import & Export sure enough, no entries for either Darktable or Rawtherapee.

Looking in the flatpak file - buried in /var/lib/flatpak/app.... the file-darktable etc. are there. Must be something in the flatpak version. Tried a couple of gentle hacks, no success.

As a check, installed Darktable from the repo. Only one version available 2.0-something. No go in flatpak. Tried it out in my Gimp 2.9.9 appimage, works ok there.

You are probably going to have to wait for integration into the flatpak.

Edit: Another little experiment.

A kubuntu 18.04 VM with Gimp 2.10.0 installed (not the flatpak)

Darktable 2.4.2 installed from repo ('buntu 16.04 is 2.0.3)

All works as expected. Open RAW image in Gimp, Darktable takes over, Close Darktable image is spooled to Gimp.

A VirtualBox VM might be an alternative to flatpak.
