replace color of pixels of one color in a specific area??? |

I have an image that is from a picture of a drawing. It is all one layer. I would like to change certain specific colored pixels in specific areas from their current color to another. I know I can do this for the entire image.
In this case it is text and the current color is black which is present in other parts of the drawing and it is on a background color that is also in other parts of the drawing.
Something like a brush or eraser set so when it passes over an area would change just any black pixels to red might be best for this situation.
A rectangle or free select might work too, but in this case maybe a brush type thing seems like it would be easier.
It sort of sounds like the magic wand tool, but that is different and pretty unpredictable as well.

Hi
I am trying to use the histogram to carry out some editing of some of my photos. I select the histogram dialogue box from Windows / Dockable Dialogues and anchor it to my Dock where I want it or sometimes I will drag it and have it showing on the screen adjacent to the photo being edited. However, each time I select a slider to adjust e.g. Shadows and Hi lites the histogram shuts down (Disappears from the Dock or screen) hence I cannot see what adjustments are being made to the photo when I move a slider.
Any help appreciated please.

Just downloaded and installed GIMP2. I appear to have all the folders, sub folders etc but how does it open to a work screen similar to PSE or Luminar Neo which I already have.

Layer Group set active |

What is the syntax to set a layergroup (and possibly a layer within it) as active?
I have looked through the console and searched the web without success.
If, for instance, I wish to insert a layer it is straight forward - I can specify parent and position.
Should not the same syntax apply to other layer commands, or is it that the console has not been updated?

Hi there,
I have an image I would like to make larger so it fills the template I've created. The template size is 12x12 inches, however, I'm unable to increase the size of the image I've added to it (have tried Image > Scale Image and also pulling the corners while holding 'command').
Any ideas how I can increase the size of the image? Thanks!

HELP! I'm using GIMP 2.10.34 on my Mac Book Pro.(Ventura 3.0) This problem started 3 days ago. The paint brush tool stays in the shape of a thin pencil with a point on each end. I want it to go to the round dot pattern but it won't change. I reset GIMP in the preferences window manager, and also the reset button but it didn't work. I downloaded a new version of GIMP 2.10.34 (Revision 1) and still have same problem. I have toggled every drawing tool as well. Is there a later version I should try?
