How to reset path handles on anchor point
Posted by: denzjos - 09-29-2019, 01:40 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (5)

Is there a way in gimp to reset the handles on an anhor point (set to zero) . On a drawing where I stroke straight lines in black resulted in some lines that are half black and the other end a sort of half grey.  After moving the handles to zero (I think) The left line is ok the right line is not ok. The paths are snapped to grid ( grid on 1 point distance). I think some handles are not set to zero with the result that the straight lines are a little bend withe the result that some lines are not stroked in full black.  Thanks for a sollution in advance.

(SOLVED) How to I rotate a pasted image to a background?
Posted by: Steve_Gesn - 09-27-2019, 08:41 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

Hi. I'm a long time 2.8 user but new to 2.10 and having learn some changes. I am using PCLinuxOS 64 with all the recent updates. I have included an image of what I'm trying to do and having trouble with. I want to rotate the cat ever so slightly to the right (not 90 degrees) before I paste it on the background image with the meerkat.  In 2.8 it was simple. All I had to do was to select the rotate tool from the Toolbox window  (which I highlighted in yellow) move the cursor on to the cat and rotate it to how much I wanted. Simple. It appears that now I can't do that. I have read some of the past post and all I can gather is something about having to make a path.

So can someone explain to a 2.10 dummy in plain English how this is done now. I downloaded a path that might work but again I'm a dummy and don't know exactly how to use it or which folder to put it in to make it work.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

what personal information could an image contain?

I know that an image could contain your GPS location. In addition to GPS location, what other
possible information that an image could contain which could identify an individual?

Need assist with a mass color replace
Posted by: smooreace - 09-26-2019, 11:25 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (10)

Im a little stuck... I have approximately 700 files that I need to do a color replacement on. I've done similar prior, but the first time around it was replacing 2 specific colors. The new images are as the sample attached. I can fairly easily do this by selecting all of the blue, tuning the edge selection, and changing tone. But that would take hours to do manually.

So the end goal is to change all of the blue tones to browns. The end result is making a modern-looking map into something appearing as it would have if found on old parchment.. so the blues have to go!

Is there a batch process, or script, that make this easier than a fully manual click-fest?

TIA

Is there away to increase the size or resolution of the program?
Posted by: Jeremy2z - 09-26-2019, 04:04 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (3)

I have been using gimp for several years now and I have come to love it. However, I recently got a new XPS 13 laptop with 4k resolutions and now all my icons are so small to the point it's almost impossible to use the program anymore. The laptop is running gimp 2.12 on windows 10. Is there anywhere I can fix this?  I have already increased my icons to Huge in the Preferences -> Icon Theme. Thank you for your time.
Jeremy

P.S. This picture not very accurate if not viewed on a 13-inch monitor but if you look at the top menu you'll notice how squished the words are together.

  Brush orientation
Posted by: MCWSR - 09-25-2019, 08:25 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (4)

Greetings, just loaded 2.10.12 on a new laptop, windows 10 OS,  noticed right off that all my brushes are upside down.  To clarify the brushes look correct in the bush selection box however when I select a brush its 180, or upside down.  And that's true with every brush.  Any suggestions to correct this?

Thanks for any help with this
Mike

I'm having problems with the GMIC plugin, I've downloaded and installed the version for Ubuntu 18.04 and it appears fine on Gimp 2.8 but is nowhere to be seen on 2.10  any ideas how to fix it?

Eraser on Surface pen jumping to crop tool
Posted by: heggety - 09-25-2019, 11:12 AM - Forum: Windows - No Replies

Hi, when using gimp 2.10.12 on a surface running windows 10 turning the surface pen and touching the erasor button to the surface jumps the tool selection to the crop tool and not the eraser tool. I cannot find a setting to inspect or change this. Is there a setupfile where I can change this behaviour?

Remove colors to keep only a few
Posted by: Paulr - 09-24-2019, 11:47 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (7)

Hello,

I'm fairly new to Gimp, and have a project where I'd like to isolate some colors in a photo.
It is to hopefully reveal a hidden message.
I'm thinking I can remove some colors (maybe convert them to a specific color like white) so what's left are all colors except what I picked.
Thanks.

  Can't Open Image Files
Posted by: hellousers - 09-24-2019, 10:19 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (6)

Hello guys,

I'm using Windows 10/32-bit.  I have recently installed GIMP 2.10.12.  I can't open image files (jpg, jpeg, bmp, etc.).

I uninstalled and re-installed this version several times, and I still can't solve the problem.

Any solutions.  I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

P.S.  I've attached error message and open file dialogue.
