  modifying raw/tiff files
Posted by: metulburr - 10-20-2016, 02:06 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (2)

I installed ufraw. But i was expecting to modify a raw image in a way like in GIMP with a jpeg or png etc. Having all the tools (copy/paste, blend, layers, etc.). But you dont. All you get in urfraw is a histogram, EXIF info, etc. Not the basic tools.

What if i wanted to blow up an image using a raw image, while also doing tasks such as

removing an object from an image
Posted by: metulburr - 10-19-2016, 12:54 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (7)

My goal:
I am trying to remove the kid from the left. At least enough to crop to make a decent pic without him.

I "usually" do this by selecting random smaller sections from the area and blending/healing them in to make it look more natural. However if there is a simpler way i would like to know.

On this i copied a section from the right and moved it over. Its good enough up to the point that the selection is too dark. Is there a way to lighten the selection to the surrounding area all at once?

Are you able to add links to places where you can let people know where to get a good version of gimp etc?
I know many people will already have one before they go looking for a forum but just an idea. Maybe some other places as well that you trust. Or isn't it something you are interested in.

Summer has gone here, into Autumn. Looking back to the garden poppies, they always cheer me up but do not last very long. To remind me.

Inking & Coloring a Cartoon Character with Inkscape
Posted by: Espermaschine - 10-16-2016, 09:54 AM - Forum: Other graphics software - Replies (3)

I made this as practice. Never did something like that before, but i've been following Jason Secrest's YT-channel for a while.

You can get the drawing for free from his website.

Inkscape can do a lot of things Illustrator does, so that was a fun experience.
Making the halftone pattern was a headache though. But thats not Inkscapes fault.

Could not seek in XCF file
Posted by: nbeaudet - 10-16-2016, 08:47 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (6)

Good day to all,

After applying many scripts to an image, I get the following message upon Saving an .xcf file:

Could not seek in XCF file

I am using Partha's 2.8.14 version, Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, Ram 16G.

When the file is ready for saving, it occupies around 7 G in current memory.

What is my problem?

TIA,

Nicolas Beaudet
