  TeX on Gimp
Posted by: vaggelisk - 01-15-2017, 04:37 PM - Forum: Extending the GIMP - Replies (1)

I want to ask if there is a plugin, like pdb.gimp_text_layer_set_markup, but instead of markup, this to use about functions/modules of TeX. For example: if want to put a footnote in a text_layer, to call this plugin, instead of make a new text-layer with a separating line and a -usually- smaller size font.

If there is not something like that, I want to ask if you think is useful a trial of developing something like that.
As for me, I 'd be very eager to contribute.

How can I combine and align overlapping images?
Posted by: elindarie - 01-09-2017, 01:36 AM - Forum: General questions - Replies (4)

I tried using the "Exact Aligner" script, the "Image Registration" plugin, and Hugin, but none did what I'm trying to do.  Has anyone tried the following?

What I'm trying to do is combine two images.  They're very similar and have lots of overlap, but slightly distorted, and this is very obvious in the detailed areas.  One image is high-resolution, but with a washed-out color palette.  The other is low resolution (kind of blurry) but with better colors.  When I try to combine them with the Exact Aligner or Image Registration, they still end up unaligned.  When I try Hugin, it fails in the Enblend stage, saying there's excessive overlap.  One website says to use an older version of Enblend, but I've found in other cases that older versions can cause problems.  I also tried Hugin's builtin blender instead of Enblend, but still had difficulty.

Does anyone know how to combine two similar images to keep the high res details of one and colorize it from the other?

Or does anyone know of an Enblend substitute that can deal with a lot of overlap?

Is there some sort of Image Registration that allows the user to set control points?

An Exact Aligner that can take more than two pairs of control points?

Thank you in advance for any help.

  Can you see it?

Load this image in Gimp, scale it so that the center of the circles are physically about 60mm (2.5") apart. On regular screens (~100DPI) you can just zoom out to 66%). Then get close until you see a third object in the middle of each pair. The top one is a pit, the bottom one a pyramid.

  Gim 2.8 Issues
Posted by: kweather9122 - 01-04-2017, 03:58 PM - Forum: Installation and usage - Replies (3)

I recently installed Gimp 2.8 and started having issues in Windows 10.  First, when I go to View > Toggle External Preview, I get the following error:

[DocumentSaveTempFile] - ERROR: Unable to Create Temp File:

C:\Users\kweatherford\Documents\EPSS Build 18\rpg_epss\basxe_data_display\scan\~tm9cc9.html

I also noticed that Code Cleaner no longer works, either.

Cannot pan with a drawing stylus
Posted by: Latin1 - 01-02-2017, 04:50 PM - Forum: General questions - Replies (1)

Hello,

I have been drawing with Gimp for several years. I've used two drawing tablets with it, and noticed the same problem with both: when hovering over the drawing area, I cannot pan or open the context menu with a stylus.

My current tablet (a Huion WH1409) has a stylus with two buttons, one of which simulates a right-click, the other a middle-click. These buttons work without any problem in web browsers, as well as in Gimp's dockable dialogs (Brush Dynamics, Tool Options, etc.).

I've noticed that when I click (with the mouse) outside the Gimp window, the stylus buttons do allow for panning and right-clicking in the drawing area, but once the window regains focus they are made unresponsive again; so the problem disappears when Gimp thinks my stylus is a mouse, however briefly.

I have spent a fair amount of time in the "Input Devices" and "Extended Input Devices" dialogs, but they have been quite cryptic and less than helpful.

Is there a setting to view, change or fix how stylus button inputs are treated by Gimp?

Thank you.
