Cannot reinstall Gimp on different drive (resolved)
#2
For anyone else with a similar issue, here is how my small brain resolved it:

1. Go to windows search, look for registry editor and open it.
2. Ctrl-F to "Find"
3. Search for "gimp"
4. Delete each instance of "gimp" that it finds, one at a time.
5. Close registry editor.
6. Open Gimp installer and install.

In my case, it was unable to delete those instances found in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\bam\State\UserSettings\S-1-5-21-2307284569-1091588784-2813351028-1000 (and similar), so those were left behind. This did not seem to matter, and I was able to install Gimp to the drive of my choice.

I am not a computer tech, so use the above at your own risk. But it worked for me. How odd that the Gimp installer is not elegant enough to address reinstall situations like this, when a user does not have the option to properly uninstall prior installations of Gimp.
