Align Tool Greyed Out
#1
My align tools are greyed out and don't do anything when I click them(see image in link). Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

Your Align Tool "Reference image object" is set to "Relative to Active Path".
Do you have an active Path ? Do you really want to align your layer relative to a path ?
Try changing this parameter to "First Item" or "Image"...

None of the other parameters make the buttons not greyed out/working.

After selecting the Align Tool (either by clicking its icon or using the keyboard shortcut), the first thing you need to do is to click in the area of your image to "select" the layer you want to align ; After clicking, you should see 4 white squares at the corners of the layer's bounding box and the arrows buttons will become available to click on.

That last reply is the probable answer, in the mean time some screenshots

---------
Apart from the align options, from your screenshot, no indication that you have selected a layer or layers to align.

Have a look at the Gimp documentation: https://docs.gimp.org/2.10/en/gimp-tool-align.html

A rough approximation from your screenshot:

Normally you might click in a layer to align-select, this one best 'rubber-band' a selection. If successful, there are indicators in the corners of the layer.

Then align whichever direction, might give this.

Not what you intended? There might be other easier ways.

Thank you, these two helped solve my problem.
